1. Pleats

The classy pleated skirt is an essential item to have in your arsenal. Raf Simons sent models in asymmetrical pleated skirts down Christian Dior’s spring 2014 runway. The length of the skirt provides ladylike charm while the accordion texture adds dimension to your outfit. Pair it with a crewneck sweater or a bralette. Make sure to tuck in your top to create a feminine silhouette.

2. Metallic

This gaudy fabric was featured on the runways of Lanvin and Proenza Schouler. The sheen of the fabric adds an instant level of sophistication to your outfit. A metallic clutch or a pair of pointy-toed pumps can polish up any outfit.

3. Soft Hues

Spring fashion wouldn’t be complete without these Easter colors. The Burberry Prorsum spring 2014 collection was filled with the prettiest lacey separates in pastel colors. From powdered blue to lavender, these colors will flatter every skin tone. A blush pink sweater or a lavender skirt is perfect for the daytime.

4. Fringe

From suede jackets to satchels, this texture proves to be versatile and playful. These loose ends comprised the bags at Gucci’s spring 2014 runway and made a statement on loafers in Tod’s spring 2014 collection. Incorporate fringe into your ensemble through a leather cross-body bag or dress.

5. Brushstrokes

Designer Phoebe Philo looked to the painter and his canvas as inspiration for Céline’s spring 2014 collection. A dress with thick bold brushstrokes would be one way of displaying the trend. Another way to include art in your wardrobe is by wearing heels or carrying clutches in primary colors.
